I began this process proposing the following values. The values I propose are not necessarily affected by changes to the goals. I am including one major change.
- Lived Expertise – We value the voices and experiences of neurodivergent educators as essential to shaping inclusive practices.
- Affirmation – We believe in celebrating neurodivergent identities and supporting school cultures in their work to honour difference rather than “fixing” it.
- Collaboration – We work in partnership with schools, divisions, families, and communities to create lasting, positive impact.
- Equity – We advocate for the continued work to create educational environments where every learner has fair access to opportunities, supports, and respect.
- Empowerment – We support educators in developing the knowledge and tools they need to support neurodivergent students confidently.
- Innovation – We embrace creative, flexible approaches that respond to the diverse needs of today’s classrooms.
- Alteration:
- Psychological Safety – We believe schools need to be psychologically safe environments for both students and staff to disclose neurodivergence and to practice neuroaffirming practices.
